General Outlook
February 17, 2005
Market weak due to low demand from abroad, especially for
items such as Cumin and Anise Seeds. Difficult for Turkish
exporters to compete with Syrian origin.
Laurel leaves market firm and steady with importers looking
for cheap price levels for pressed material but prices remains
around the 1800 -1900 US$ level depending on the quality.
New crop only available in September 2005.
Oregano steady. We might see a slow decrease in price levels
after March / April when new crop is coming closer in July.
Exporters then mostly willing to sell their stocks at slightly
attractive lower levels. For the time being prices firm
for a good finished well cleaned product.
