General Outlook
June 29, 2005
With new crops coming ahead in July / August the
market is not reacting with a high demand. Most buyers are
awaiting developments of prices in the coming weeks. As
holiday periode of July starting we do not forsee much activity
in the weeks to come.
Cumin somewhat firm but steady and
it is hard to predict what new crop prices will do in August.
However there is overcarry in cumin seeds both in Turkey
as in Syria and with new crop quantity entering the market
in July we do not forsee strong incrrease in price levels.
Turkish Anise seeds is quoting firmer
levels each week. The domestic demand by the Turkish Raki
producers ( An anise seed & grapes based spirit ) is
high and this keeps the domestic market very firm. On these
levels there is low demand from importers abroad for Turkish
Anise seeds.
Oregano weak for the moment but
in some ways somewhat to early to say what new crop will
do in August / September. For the time being we do not forsee
significant changes.
