Sun
Dried Tomatoes
New crop fresh tomatoes
started very difficult with low yield, low quality and due to diseases
in the fresh tomatoes many producers faced strong difficulties. Most
exporters are only producing and offering for their best clients.
Probably a little spot-business with be done this season as sun dried
tomatoes from Turkey
will be very scarce. See article about Tomato Crop in Turkey
at http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/n.php?n=tuta-absaluta-ends-our-8220field-tomato8221-dreams-2010-08-08

also able to offer these items packed in drums in brine or vinegar or
as a finished product in retail jars. We are in the middle of the
new crop peppers.

New crop oregano
harvesting is in full swing. Weather condtions are favourable. For the
moment the market is stable with minor movements in prices. Normally I
would agree that prices should come down, as it is the beginning of the
season and the demand is slow.
However, for the past
two years there has been increasing local speculation in all
agricultural articles and particularly oregano. Last year some big
speculators bought large quantities when the price came down to 1,20 /
1,50 Turkish Lyra per Kg. raw material and they sold it all at much
higher levels later on ( 2,40 / 2,50 Turkish Lyra ) so they are
probably very eager to do this again.
In fact they already
started to buy at 2,20 Turkish Lyral but realized it was too early and
stopped. However, our supplier is called regularly by local traders /
speculators to try and pump for information of the demand from abroad.
They definitely want to buy at least 1.200 / 1.500 tons of oregano.
This means that oregano
price will not depend solely ( as usual ) on supply and demand, but
also on this problem.
It is very difficult
for us to predict what crazy people will do, so we really, really
cannot give any firm advice in this strange situation. We just cannot
guess what will happen.
Our advise to buyers is
to buy a little at a time as the moment these local traders /
speculators step in price will jump up suddenly and then they will
continue pumping it up. Of course we could be wrong. Seems difficult,
though, particularly since crop is a little less than last year and
carry-over is very small, which everybody knows.
Please contact us
should you have any interest in firm CFR quotations or additional
information.

Oregano
One exporter is trying to
maintain price high in producing regions but so far buyers are
resisting. We advise buyers to wait and follow the market as we think
prices have to come down slightly more ( up to 10% ) after August. New
crop oregano is very good and plenty material should be available.
Currently also much of local speculation. The bulk of the crop will
enter the market during these weeks and that should give weaker price
levels. The €uro again firmer against the Turkish Lyra today so
that also should give an advantage for €uro-zone buyers.
Prices vary based on
blend and oil content - Kindly ask for specific offers.

Capers
We are able to offer
product preserved in brine in drums or in finished retail jars on
vinegar. Please contact us for firm quotes and details. Prices
depending large on quantity required and shipment periode. New crop
full available now in July & August. The right time for
purchasing at the moment as it looks like market has reached lowest
levels since years.
Sun
Dried Tomatoes
New crop fresh tomatoes
started very difficult with low yield, low quality and due to diseases
in the fresh tomatoes many producers could not start drying untill this
week. This means they are missing around 3 weeks of drying periode.
Market will for sure be on firm levels and exporters will more and more
try to only produce what they have contracted. We feel that not very
much extra quantity sun dried tomatoes will be produced for
spot-selling. Prices came out very late this season. We expect to have
our first new crop quotations by this week / next week. Please contact
us for more additional information.
Pepperonchini
& Jalopeno Peppers
Please be
informed that we are also able to offer these items packed in drums in
brine or vinegar or as a finished product in retail jars. We are
at the start of the new crop.
Dutch
Silverskin Onions
New
crop available for shipments in drums on vinegar by Mid September.
Please contact us for more information or firm quotations.
As most of the new 2010
crops coming out these days we advise buyers to purchase what is needed
on the short run. For sure after August the market for above items will
stablelize and you will be able to make your purchase-decisions more
accurate.
Please feel free to
contact us should you require any additional information about the
above products. Upon request we can also offer you firm CFR Prices
accordingly.
