General Outlook
December 5, 2005
Market for above items have been on steady levels in the last
couple of weeks. It seems that especially most industrial
importers are covered for the time being. With the coming
X-Mas Holiday and New year celebrations ahead we do not expect
much movement in the market and / or price levels.
Laurel Leaves : We are having a difficult
situation on this market segment. The local market is empty
and raw material prices have risen to US$ 1.80 per Kg. for
most inferiour quality like FAQ grades pressed. It is hard
to find a full container load of Laurel Leaves. This has given
even more pressure on the Hand Selected material were prices
may exceed US$ 10,-- levels per Kg. when demand will pick
up mostly in spring-time March / April. The new crop only
in September / October so this will only give more pressure
on the prices. Some claims are spreaded that some of the exporters
are holding the stocks for selling at a higher price in the
coming months but we estimate they cannot bear it by beginning
of the new year.
Oregano : No significant change,
exporters have enough stocks.
Cumin, Anise,
Fennel mainly quiet and buyers are
inactive. There is a slight decrease in anise price but it
is because of low demand, and tempury.
All other items remain unchanged with no significant movements
in price-levels.
